[Line of Work] - Interior Designer at Joe Lucas Inc. and Partner at Harbinger Showroom
[The Detallista] - Favorite accent color?
[Joe Lucas] - Lately it’s been lots of purple.  But I’m loving the deeper bright greens out there right now.
[TD] - How does your line of work influence your personal style?
[JL] - As an interior designer and showroom owner I definitely spend all my time around fabrics and color so I tend to bring it into my personal style.  I always try and use a fabric sample from our Harbinger showroom as a pocket square instead of a store bought one. Branding Branding Branding!
[TD] - Article of clothing you obsess about most and give an example?
[JL] - My boyfriend Dave tells me I have a problem when it comes to jackets.  I can’t say no to a great blazer or jacket.  It’s the perfect layer that can be worn casual or dressy.  Maybe I’m related to Suzy Orman?
[TD] - One rule of style you follow most?
[JL] - Fit is crucial. Looking back at pictures when I didn’t realize I was buying a size too big kills me.  And keep it classic but with a twist.
[TD] - Your style icon or an element of style that you love every time you see it?
[JL] - Classic style like a Cary Grant can do no wrong.  Ryan Gosling gets everything right these days.  The face doesn’t hurt.
[TD] - A style you admire on others but don’t or can’t pull off yourself?
[JL] - If I could grow a good beard or scruff I would have it in a heartbeat but I can’t.
[TD] - Favorite place/location in the world?
[JL] - Cliché I know but Paris never disappoints.  The men can make a plastic bag look chic.  And their hair…never ceases to amaze.
[TD] - City or Place that influences your style?
[JL] - I love the more metropolitan cities like New York and London and how men really care about how they look and dress.  I try to take that and use it in LA where people are more prone to underdress.
[TD] - Any motto’s you live by?
[JL] - My father always said “Don’t sweat the small stuff” and I try to use that in my everyday.
[TD] And lastly, any style or lifestyle blogs you frequent for inspiration?
[JL] - Remodelista.com, Stylebeat.com, Allthebestblog.co.uk (Dave and my house will be featured in Ronda Carman’s book with Rizzoli next year), TheSartorialist.com, MarkDSikes.com, AContinuousLean.com and InsideHook.com
